The short version

Everything here is information for a boat owner deciding what to buy. It is provided as guidance only.

• Nothing on this site is engineering advice, a survey, an inspection or a quotation.
• No figure here replaces the maker's own manual, a marine electrician or a surveyor who has seen your boat.
• The decision, and the checking before it, are yours.

What the calculators and the finder are

The size calculator, the thruster finder, the wiring calculator and the battery calculator compute a figure from the numbers you type and from the makers' published documents.

They do not know your boat. They cannot see your hull, your wiring, your batteries or the condition of any of them. They also assume the numbers you entered are right.

Their results are estimates, provided as guidance only and without warranty.

Prices, quotes and makers’ figures

Prices. Every price on this site carries the date it was read and a link to where. Prices change, dealers change them, and a figure read last month may not be the figure you are quoted today.

Owner reports. An owner's report of what a job cost is that owner's report, labeled with its source and date, never a price you will be charged.

Makers’ figures. Thrust, current, battery and run-time figures are the makers' own, quoted from their manuals and product pages with the revision and the date. Where two of a maker's own documents disagree, both are shown. A maker can revise a manual at any time, and the current document on the maker's site governs, not this site's copy of it.

What is yours to check

You are responsible for confirming that any installation meets all of these:

• the maker's instructions
• the standards that apply to your boat (in the United States, ABYC's)
• your insurer's requirements
• the law where you are

You are responsible for the numbers you enter into a tool and for what you do with the result.

Where this site and a maker's manual disagree, follow the manual and tell us.

No warranty, and the limit on our liability

No warranty. This site and its tools are provided as they are and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or merchantability. We work to keep every figure checkable and correct, and we correct errors when they are reported, but we do not promise that the site is complete, current or free of mistakes.

The limit on our liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, Morgain LLC and the people who write for this site are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or cost that arises from using this site or relying on anything on it, including a figure from a calculator or the finder. If the law where you live does not allow that limit, our liability is limited to the smallest amount that law permits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Links to other sites

This site links to makers, dealers, forums and other sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they say, sell or charge. A link is never a recommendation of the site behind it. Some links are affiliate or referral links, disclosed at the top of every page that carries one; the About page explains how they work, and the privacy policy says what such a link stores.

Changes, and how to reach us

We may change these terms. The date at the top is the date of the current version.

Found an error? If you find an error anywhere on the site, or a figure that does not match the maker's current document, write to admin@boatthrusterguide.com and we will check it against the source and correct it. The site has an About page, a contact page and a privacy policy.
